Summary:

 

Mitsubishi Power Europe Customer Support Engineering department supports the operation and maintenance of OEM Gas Turbines, Steam Turbines, Generators, Control Systems, and Auxiliary Systems. The department provides engineering support during scheduled/forced outages, during operation as well as for new business development or existing business expansion while working closely with program management, commercial, and tendering teams.

The control team as part of the CSE department is also engaged with customers to ensure the reliability, availability, and safety of the assets in operations.

Control System Engineer will work closely with the Technology team to provide design, implementation, and problem resolution for our customers’ systems related to OEM (Netmation / HIACS) and non-OEM (Mark VI/V, Honeywell, S7, and Ovation).

Control System Engineer will be involved in control system engineering activities including fault finding, preparation of design specification, technical documents, logic programming, site installation, testing, and commissioning (FAT/SAT), for a wide range of control systems.

Other responsibilities include providing technical support to customers internal or external.

Control System Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and developing satisfactory customers relationships and will be responsible to complete all tasks within the targeted deadline in line with the company QMS.

Being a multi-disciplinary engineering team, it will be expected to have the flexibility to learn gas turbine, steam turbine, and generator operational aspects in addition to primary job responsibilities.

The position will be responsible for assisting the control engineering team as part of the Engineering and Product Development team for various customer support engineering activities.

 

Job Description:

 

  • Controls System Engineer is responsible for problem resolution for our customers related to control logic for operation of gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and relevant auxiliaries.
  • The Control engineer works closely with the control team for assisting the engineering manager and engineering team for various customer support engineering activities.
  • Controls System Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and developing satisfactory customers relationship and will be responsible to complete all tasks within the targeted deadline in line with the company QMS.
  • Control System engineer will be involved in control engineering activities including fault finding, preparation of design specification, technical documents, logic programming, site installation, and testing and commissioning (FAT/SAT) for a wide range of control systems.

  • Controls System Engineer responsible for the promotion and installation of TOMONI, cybersecurity packages, windows upgrades, control system upgrades (Netmation, HIACS, MarkVIe..etc)
  • Support the operation and maintenance of Mitsubishi Power control systems for gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and relevant auxiliary systems during scheduled/forced outages as well as during normal operation.
  • Support the control team to provide design, implementation, and troubleshooting for our customers’ control systems-related issues.
  • Support the control team on HW/SW solutions to replace obsolete control systems or upgrade the current control system.
  • Prepare and write controls system technical reports, technical procedures, etc. following the instruction of the Engineering Manager.
  • Verify, troubleshoot, and maintain the correct functioning of various control systems including relevant auxiliary systems, and instrumentations.
  • Read and create drawings, specify and design logic diagrams for control systems and technical manuals to
  • Carry out commissioning activities on-site.
  • Support for creation of RFQs and POs, etc. following the instructions of the Engineering Manager.
  • Lead and manage root cause analysis for controls-related technical issues.
  • Travel to customers’ locations to support customer technical enquires if necessary

 

Person Specification:

 

  • Graduate level education / Qualified by experience
  • Fluency in business English and knowledge of Japanese would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Electrical/I&C/Systems Engineering is preferred with proven experience in any of Oil & Gas, Energy or Process sectors in logic design, hardware and software installation, control system architecture, simulation, and operational aspects of various control systems.
  • Strong communication skills and MS Office Suite.  
  • Knowledge/Skill: General knowledge of the following areas is required.
    • Previous experience in DCS/SCADA/PLC, machine controllers, and instrumentation for rotating equipment or process plants.
    • Proven experience in design and programming, installation and verification of industrial control systems.
    • Previous experience or knowledge of Mitsubishi Control Systems (Netmation/MELCO) and Hitachi Control System (HIACS) would be preferred.
    • Must have experience in one of the following control system programming: Ladder/Pseudo Code/Function block diagram/Sequential flow chart.
    • Must have experience in one of the following ICS: GE Mark V/VI/VIe, Siemens S7/300, or Allen Brandley RSLgix 5000.
    • Previous experience in HMI systems: InTouch/iFix/CIMPLICITY 
    • Knowledge of gas turbine, steam turbine, and generator operation.
    • Ability to understand the flow of processes.
    • Experience in developing and writing specifications and/or proposals.
    • Effective customer service skills and Strong organizational skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability and adept at communicating with all levels of the organization.
    • Understanding of industrial communication protocols Modbus, ControlNet, Ethernet IP, OPC, and others and demonstrable ability to problem solve and implement those systems.
    • Fundamental understanding of IT & OT systems and TCP/IP networking.
    • Working knowledge of safety and regulations and safe working practices
