Reporting to the Supply Chain Assistant Manager, the Senior Supply Chain Specialist will be responsible for planning, delivering, and improving the supply chain in line with the expansion of Mitsubishi Power's Engineering Service Business across Europe. The Senior Supply Chain Specialist will also lead and develop the Supply Chain Specialists.

 

Summary

The Senior Supply Chain Specialist will be responsible for the complete procurement process from part request through to delivery, ensuring a high standard of service throughout.

 

What will you do in the role?

  • Establish and maintain long-term relationships and beneficial agreements with vendors by working closely and strategically with teams in the Engineering and QHSE departments.
  • Provide guidance, training and coaching to the Supply Chain Specialists.
  • Encourage accurate and high-quality output by the team in the development of procedures and documentation.
  • Seek opportunities to develop technical expertise and coaching/mentoring skills.
  • Collate information on Outage schedule and spare requirements for each Outage.
  • Analyse Vendor performance on price and lead time, against internal cost and lead time of New Product/Part Development (NPD) to build a business case.
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors  to determine the source and oversee corrective action in line with the procedures and input from the QHSE Department.
  • Contribute to the development and upkeep of the Vendor Database, ensure all information is accurate.
  • Keep regular communication with Programme Managers on progress and any changes in supply of parts.
  • Actively collaborate with other Mitsubishi Power locations (such as Japan, America and Canada) in order to enhance the Mitsubishi Power Europe & UK supply chain.
  • Regularly report to Mitsubishi Power Management on the performance of the supply chain, vendor performance reduction of cost and lead time, supplier related data, and future plans.
  • Oversee the assessment of technical information by Supply Chain Specialist to identify feasible options for Local Procurement and, creating technical specifications for suppliers where necessary.
  • Support in the evaluation of specialist process vendors (e.g. thermal barrier coating, stellite welding, chromising etc.), participating in visits and meetings with potential vendors and supporting the qualification process.
  • Continuously improve internal processes and procedures, propose, and implement new solutions for the benefit of supply chain.

 

 What are the key skills/experience you’ll already have?

Ideally, we are looking for the following;

  • Relevant degree or qualification such as Mechanical Engineering or CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply)
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a technical industry, such as Aerospace, or Automotive.
  • Experience in the power generation industry is desirable but not necessary
  • Prior line management/coaching/mentoring experience
  • Passionate about developing, and upskilling team members
  • A willingness to develop knowledge of the gas and steam turbine business and/or technology.
  • Interest and passion for both technical and commercial aspects of business.
  • Strong analytical and technical report writing skills.
  • MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Some experience with Project Management is an advantage
  • Good presentation, diplomacy and verbal skills.
  • Supportive, independent, self-driven.
