Reporting to the Head of Service for EMEA, the Service Engineering Director partners with other Service Directors and the General Managers to deliver MPW-EUK strategic objectives and high levels of customer satisfaction across the EMEA region.

 

The role leads the Customer Engineering Department (CSE), providing technical leadership and customer support across operations, maintenance planning, and execution phases. Working closely with Program Management, the role is accountable for project delivery and performance against agreed technical, safety, quality, and customer satisfaction KPIs.

 

This position strengthens integration across Customer Engineering, Field Services, Program Management, and Service Development, while maintaining CSE’s technical independence and aligning with the wider MHI global service organisation.

Key Objectives

  • Sustain Customer Engineering technical excellence while strengthening commercial awareness and leadership capability
  • Improve cross-functional collaboration across service, engineering, and program management
  • Align EMEA service engineering governance with MHI global standards

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and strengthen Customer Engineering capabilities across EMEA
  • Standardise the CSE function through clear governance, quality management, and KPI control
  • Ensure effective technical and delivery control of all LTSA and transactional projects
  • Proactively address project, safety, quality, and customer risks, coordinating corrective actions where required
  • Support and represent Customer Engineering management in key internal and customer stakeholder engagements
  • Improve back-office efficiency and overall service delivery effectiveness
  • Drive joint initiatives and collaboration with other MPW Group companies
  • Provide technical input to LTSA and transactional proposals when required

  • Communicate clearly with all levels of employees and project stakeholders
  • Act as a senior escalation point for customer technical issues
  • Maintain the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct
  • Undertake additional duties appropriate to the scope and seniority of the role

 

Person Specification

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in the power generation or power plants sector
  • At least 5 years’ experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams at Director or Senior Manager level
  • Graduate-level education or equivalent professional experience
  • Strong leadership capability with proven experience managing senior technical and managerial teams
  • Sound commercial and financial acumen, including budgeting and cost control
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with fluency in English mandatory
  • Strong understanding of Health, Safety, Quality, and environmental governance in a service environment
  • Broad technical knowledge of power generation facilities, including gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and large rotating equipment
  • High levels of professional integrity, judgement, and accountability
